PayMaya: Digital payments help unite Filipinos in battle against COVID-19

More than P7.8M in funds raised with more donations pouring in through PayMaya’s channels

Just a week after its #OneAgainstCOVID19 initiative launched, PayMaya has already helped raised more than P7.8 million in donations from Filipinos all over the world through its digital payments channels, with donations growing rapidly by the day.

This feat was accomplished as companies and non-profit organizations such as the Philippine Red Cross, UNICEF, Caritas Manila, OXFAM Pilipinas, the UP PGH Foundation and other groups work together to mobilize much needed relief and resources to help combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With many financial touch points such as banks and payment centers in limited operations and as cash handling is discouraged to prevent the spread of the virus, digital financial services like PayMaya indeed offer the fastest, safest and easiest way for people to contribute to various response and relief efforts addressing COVID-19.

Exquisite Style and Effortless Simplicity with LG

With design and style, fads come and go. From bell bottoms, to shoulder pads, to mullets, some fads are best left forgotten to the sands of time. Even technology is not immune. There was a time where having beepers, robot dogs, and zip drives were all the rage. The difference here perhaps is that with tech, it’s always in the pursuit of something better, of innovating to get to the next level.

Minimalist design on the other hand, is timeless. As fads cycle out through the decades, the sheer simplicity, efficiency, and brilliance of minimalism withstands the test of time. With all of the innovations that technology has developed over the years, we’ve come back full circle. At the end of the day, there’s really nothing like the exquisite style that clean lines offers you. Less is more.

5 things to remember about “A Quiet Place Part II”

A Family Reunited

Following the huge success of the first film, A Quiet Place Part II reunites the filmmaking partnership that spawned it, John Krasinski again writing and directing his real-life wife Emily Blunt. Despite the first film ending on a cliff-hanger, a sequel was never planned but the idea of how people were surviving and how the world could go on were questions that Krasinski could not shake. “I never wanted to go outside the farm on the first one, but it was always in the back of my head. And then to see the reaction from the first movie, and that people had that same question, was really inspiring to me. Because it was something that I felt very much I wanted to explore” says Krasinski. This led to the spark of an idea that took him on a journey to create the expanded world in A Quiet Place Part II.

Improving Lives, One Super Minimart At A Time

When we hear the word “progress”, images of roads, buildings, and an urbanized lifestyle come to mind. That is all well and good for those residing in so-called “Imperial Manila” but, for most, progress comes at a sustained pace and a grassroots-level scale–a freshly paved road, a new tricycle terminal, or in the case of many developing towns in the north and south, a clean and convenient Super Minimart.

Alfamart, the first and only Super Minimart chain in the Philippines, is very familiar with the positive effects of opening up a store in small towns. Ever since they opened their first store in Trese Martires, Cavite back in 2014, they have been guided by their advocacy of improving overall quality-of-life in the locales they operate in.

Fast forward to today, Alfamart now has 800 stores (their latest one recently opened at Don Ramon Ave., San Fernando, Pampanga). From Cavite, to Laguna, to Bulacan, and finally Pampanga, Alfamart has always been guided by the same principle of improving communities, one Super Minimart at a time.
