Cebuana Lhuillier, GIZ, and AXA Philippines launch first microinsurance for MSMEs

The Philippines ranks ninth in the world among  countries with extreme weather events in the 2020 World Risk Index, according to the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department by the House of Philippine Congress. When natural disasters and calamities strike, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the most vulnerable segments.

Since MSMEs make up the majority of businesses in the Philippines today, Cebuana Lhuillier, one of the country’s leading microfinancial services company, has teamed up with AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance providers, and the German Development Cooperation / Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationaleZussamenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (GIZ), to unveil its newest microinsurance product, the MicroBiz Protek Jr., which will help insure microenterprises against typhoons, floods, earthquake, lightning, and fire for an annual premium as low as P172.

The country’s leading and largest microfinance service provider has again proven its excellence in the industry receiving 13 awards from the 13th Annual Golden Bridge Awards (Globee Awards) and 6 awards from the 2021 International Business Awards (Stevie Awards).

Cebuana Lhuillier’s President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier was recognized for his excellence in leadership, winning five gold Globee Awards, including Innovator of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Maverick of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, and Executive Achievement of the Year. Furthermore, he also won four Gold Stevie Awards and one Silver Stevie awards in the following categories: Executive of the Year – Consumer Services, Executive of the Year – Financial Services, Lifetime Achievement Award – Business Products Industries, Lifetime Achievement Award – Consumer Services Industries, and Entrepreneur of the Year – Financial Services, respectively.

Cebuana Lhuillier International Payout Cash Panalo Promo concludes with senior citizen taking home PHP1M grand prize

A former asin vendor who used to peddle her wares along the streets of San Fernando, La Union emerged as the lucky winner of Cebuana Lhuillier’ year-long International Payout Cash Panalo Promo. Rosita Guerrero Nisperos, 62 years old, emerged victorious out of millions of entries to take home the One Million Pesos grand prize tax-free.

Cebuana Lhuillier International Payout Cash Panalo, which ran from March to December 2020 in all 2,500 Cebuana Lhuillier branches nationwide, is the company’s way of showing its appreciation to the millions of OFWs working hard across the globe, by providing accessible financial services to their beloved families back in the Philippines.

5 million Filipinos now have Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings

 

There are now more than 5 million Filipinos who have a Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings account. This landmark achievement by Cebuana Lhuillier Rural Bank (CLRB), the banking arm of the leading micro-financial services company in the country, Cebuana Lhuillier, comes after the launch of the leveled up Cebuana Lhuillier Micro Savings product in December of last year. 

“We are elated that there are more and more Filipinos every day who are realizing the importance of saving and are taking charge of their future. It is very exciting that these 5 million Micro Savings account holders are not only on the first step to financial wellness, but because of our amped up product, are also Financially Mobile individuals.” said Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO, Jean Henri Lhuillier.

Cebuana Lhuillier insurance arm transforms into brokerage, ensures accessibility for Filipinos

Brokerage makes insurance accessible for Filipinos Cebuana Lhuillier has transformed its 20-year Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Inc. to Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers, Inc. (CLIB), effectively becoming an insurance broker, to provide Filipinos with better access to more inclusive and affordable insurance. In partnership with insurance providers, CLIB will offer life and non-life insurance products through more than 2,500 Cebuana Lhuillier branches and 6,500 domestic partner outlets nationwide. Cebuana Lhuillier, the country’s largest microfinancial services provider, has introduced a new insurance brokerage companyCebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers, Inc. (CLIB) that aims to help provide Filipinos with better access to more inclusive and affordable insurance products and services.

2018 data from the Insurance Commission reveals that almost 40 million or only 37% of the country’s 105 million total population are covered by insurance. Further highlighting how getting insurance can be a challenge, owing to most Filipinos ineligibility for insurance, the inaccessibility of products, and high cost of premiums.
