Program (4Ps) and other qualified marginalized households to apply.

equivalent to P144 in total savings for a typical household consuming 200 kWh.

To say that 2020 was a trying year for everyone would be an understatement. While businesses, particularly retail establishments, were either closing or downsizing, super minimart Alfamart had one thing on their mind: expansion to reach more communities.
Alfamart prides itself in being a one-stop hop providing daily essentials accessibly to households. Its stores are a tricycle ride away from the communities they serve, underscoring its goal of making grocery shopping convenient for everyone.
Last year, the minimart opened its 1000th store in Barangay Santiago, General Trias, Cavite. A total of 267* stores were opened in 2020 alone.
It took all of 27 days from the time construction started on April 2020 to set up the Complex of Hope, the originally 12-bed dedicated facility for COVID-19 patients of The Medical City South Luzon in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
“This was built from donations from various stakeholders in our community. The bayanihan spirit really kicked in,” said Dr. Jose Enrico Juliano, Chief Operating Officer of TMC South Luzon. “A group donated container vans. Some people lent us vehicles so our staff can be shuttled without fear of being exposed to the virus. There was even a group that gave siopao to our frontliners.”
Now more than ever, the facility takes pride in fostering good relationships not only with the community but also with its business partners. “We are also lucky to have a perfect relationship with Meralco,” Juliano added. “We can always count on them for our power supply—anticipating contingencies and preparing for both natural and man-made disasters.”
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the country’s premier electric distribution utility, continues to exude excellence beyond providing stable and reliable power in its franchise area. It commanded superiority in the field of communications in the global scene as it bested 3,700 nominations from various organizations from different industries in 65 countries.
The prestigious Stevie International Business Awards is an annual awards program started in 2002 and joined by top corporations to showcase professional achievements and compete for various awards. The Meralco Appliance Calculator (M.A.C.) has been a consumer’s electricity budget buddy since 2003. The M.A.C. is designed to be an electricity bill management tool of Meralco residential customers to help them: a) better manage their electric consumption and their electric bill; b) make wiser decisions in buying home appliances, and; c) get home energy efficiency tips that are customized to their home electricity consumption. Any consumer can access the M.A.C. from Meralco’s website: www.meralco.com.ph.
Although the M.A.C. has been around for many years now, new features and enhancements are constantly being introduced to enable it to cater to the growing demands of electricity users.
With the new Meralco Appliance Calculator (M.A.C.), users can now have the option of using either “My Appliance Calculator” or “My Bill Manager”. “My Appliance Calculator” allows the user to calculate the estimated consumption cost of appliances - one at a time. “My Bill Manager”, on the other hand, allows the user to calculate the estimated consumption cost of appliances in a table format. It allows the user to get an estimate of the household’s total electric consumption cost and see which appliances consume more electricity.
Other features of the “My Bill Manager” menu include: consumption manager, energy efficiency adviser and target bill amount estimator. Consumption manager allows the user to see the corresponding electric consumption pie chart and some text description of the chart based on the information provided by the user. The energy efficiency adviser, meanwhile, allows user to see some energy efficiency tips based on the information provided by the user. The target bill amount estimator, on the other hand, allows the user to see an estimate of his “monthly target kWh onsumption” and “estimated price per kWh” by just inputting the “target electric bill amount”.
Other new features of the M.A.C include: a) e-mailing of the M.A.C web link to friends through the “email” button; b) sharing the M.A.C web link to Facebook and Twitter accounts through the “share” button; c) sending feedback to Meralco regarding the new M.A.C through the “feedback” button; d) printing the computation results of “My Bill Manager” through the “print” button (for easy access and future reference of the computations), and; e) viewing the basis for computing the estimated electricity consumption of home appliances for the M.A.C application through the “formula” button (so that users can validate the results of the computations).
The M.A.C. is truly a user-friendly, interactive and valuable tool for cost-conscious electricity consumers. Go give it a try!
