Will Sasso Q&A: The Bald Stooge known as Curly

The all-new motion picture, THE THREE STOOGES, in theaters October 24, is a contemporary take on a trio of time-honored boneheads. The film recreates the classic and iconic Stooge sound effects (including "boinks," finger snaps, and palm claps), haircuts and other Stooge-isms- -- while interweaving them with modern-day attitudes, situations and pop culture references.

In the film, we meet the Stooges as newborn "angels from heaven." That's how the nuns characterize the three toddlers left at their orphanage. But when one of the nuns, Sister Mary-Mengele, receives a fierce eye-poke from Moe, which catapults her into the next county, they suspect the new arrivals are anything but heavenly.

Boy writes girl into life with "Ruby Sparks"

Not your conventional boy-meets-girl  romantic story,  “Ruby Sparks” leads us to Calvin Weir-Fields, (played by Paul Dano who also appeared in “Little Miss Sunshine,” “There Will Be Blood”) a literary wunderkind with an acclaimed first novel.  But since then, he’s been stricken with a stubborn case of writer’s block magnified by a dismal love life.  In a last-ditch attempt to reignite his creative spark, Calvin begins to envision a female protagonist in his mind.

Then one morning she steps off the page and into his life.  Suddenly, Ruby (portrayed by Zoe Kazan who is also the film’s writer) is sleeping in Calvin’s bed, cooking in his kitchen, beguiling him in every way, with one mind-boggling twist:  he somehow has the power to change her every time he sits at his typewriter. As Calvin tries to juggle this power, he faces a major dilemma as a writer and a boyfriend: what will it take to make this relationship from his imagination work in the real world?

Impossible is equally possible for Liam Neeson in “TAKEN 2”

Liam Neeson in Taken 2

2008's hit action-thriller “Taken” took the multi-faceted actor Liam Neeson’s career in a new milieu as a relatable action hero. The role of Bryan Mills, the embittered former CIA man forcing his way into a dark sex cartel to save his kidnapped daughter, became iconic, resonating with audiences all over the globe.

Back for more carnage, Neeson reprises the role of Bryan Mills in “TAKEN 2” shot in Istanbul which also stars Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace.  “Taken 2” reunites Neeson with his co-stars Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, who play Bryan's estranged wife and his precious daughter. “Bryan's a total superhero,” says Janssen, weighing in on what made audiences connect with the first film. “TAKEN really came at a time when people needed that in their lives, because it's about family and protecting your family. He's a very American hero.”

In this latest action-packed reel set against the backdrop of Istanbul, Mills is being followed by the Albanian goons   determined to exact revenge on him and his family.  In the lead to exact revenge on Mills is Murad (Rade Sherbedgia) who is the father of the kidnapper that Mills killed in the first movie.  With Mills and his wife taken, Kim (Maggie Grace) is left to save her parents.

Greg’s journals continues of the big screen in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days"

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” is the third and latest big screen installment of author Jeff Kinney’s wildly popular series of illustrated novels about wise-cracking but hapless middle school student Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon). As Greg confides to his diary (though, as he likes to point out, “It’s NOT a diary, it’s a journal!”), middle school is “the dumbest idea ever invented,” a never-ending ordeal involving – among other appalling things – wedgies, bullies, morons and swirlies. And if you don’t know what a swirly is, then lucky you.

Returning with Zachary Gordon for more mayhem in the community are his brother Rodrick (Devon Bostick) who’s older but not wiser and his best friend Rowley (Robert Capron) whose wholesome outlook in life makes him the coolest kid around along with Fregley (Grayson Russell), Holly (Peyton List), Patty (Laine MacNeil) and Chirag (Karan Brar).

The Dark Knight Rises showing at Ayala Cinemas starting July 19

The Dark Knight Rises now showing at Ayala Cinemas

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures brings to the screen “The Dark Knight Rises,” the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

Christopher Nolan says, “Our story picks up eight years later, when it seems that Batman and Commissioner Gordon have succeeded—the Dark Knight is no longer needed in Gotham.  In that regard, Bruce Wayne has won the battle, but he is traumatized by what happened and doesn’t know how to move on from being the figure of Batman.  ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ very much deals with the consequences of his and other characters’ actions in the previous films.”

Diary of a Wimpy Kid : Dog days

 MORE TEENAGE MISADVENTURES IN
“DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS” MOVIE

Greg Heffley, the kid who made “wimpy” cool, is looking forward to his summer vacation in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” but when his dad (Steve Zahn) decides they should spend more time together, Greg does everything he can to keep his father from ruining his summer vacation.

In “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days,” which combines elements of both the third and fourth of the “Wimpy Kid” books, the good news is that school is out for the summer and Greg is looking forward to a vacation spent playing video games, hanging out with his best friend, Rowley, and working his way into the affections of the girl he has a crush on, Holly Hills. The bad news is that Greg Heffley being Greg Heffley, nothing is going to go as planned.

Reunite with Ice Age 4 : Continental Drift

This July 12, Reunite with the Returning Characters and Meet a Whole New Set you’ll Surely Love in
ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT
In the 4th installment of the hit family movie franchise, Ice Age's Manny, Diego, and Sid-embark upon their greatest adventure after cataclysm sets an entire continent adrift in “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.”  Separated from the rest of the herd, they use an iceberg as a makeshift ship, which launches them on an epic seafaring quest. Manny and the gang are challenged like never before to become heroes and do the impossible, as they encounter exotic sea creatures, explore a brave new world, and battle ruthless pirates.  And Scrat's reunion with his cursed nut catapults him to places no prehistoric squirrel has gone before.

MANNY (Ray Romano)
As the world shifts around him, so does Manny’s family.   Manny’s tendency to be overprotective spurs a terrible argument between him and daughter Peaches - just before Scrat splits the world apart, casting him out to sea and separating him from his family and herd.  Now he vows to do everything he can to get back to his family and make amends with his daughter.
PEACHES (Keke Palmer)
With possums for uncles and two offbeat parents in Manny and Ellie, Peaches has grown into an adorable quirky teenage mammoth with a mind of her own.  She’s experiencing her first crush on a cute mammoth named Ethan, but has yet to see that he’s the wrong guy.  Peaches longs to prove to Manny that she’s no longer a baby, and can make good decisions on her own.   With Manny gone, she and her mother have to lead the herd.
ELLIE (Queen Latifah)
When Manny, Diego and Sid are separated from the herd, it’s up to Ellie to take her husband’s place as the leader and help everyone find safe ground.  She also must temporarily parent Peaches alone.   Ellie remembers what it was like to be a teenager and understands her daughter’s first crush.  But she must remind Peaches not to try to change to be accepted and be proud of the fact that she’s part possum.
SID (John Leguizamo)
Sid is excited when his long lost relatives arrive, seemingly happy to be reunited with him.  But they leave just as quickly as they came, intentionally ditching his crotchety GRANNY.  Granny is inadvertently swept out to sea with the trio, making Sid’s job surviving the adventure that much harder when he must take care of her every need along the way.
DIEGO (Dennis Leary)
Diego is at the top of his game and ready to help Manny with the adventure at hand.  While at sea, Diego meets a female saber tooth pirate named, SHIRA, and begins to have a strange new feeling – love.  Diego invites Shira to join the herd.  But when she is unable to leave her life as a pirate, and he is forced to leave her behind, he wonders if he’s made the biggest mistake of his life.
SHIRA (by Jennifer Lopez)
Lightning fast on her feet and equally quick-witted, this beautiful saber tooth pirate has become Gutt’s loyal first mate.   After Diego and Manny capsize Gutt’s ship, Shira gets separated from the pirates and is shocked to discover that Gutt has no real loyalty to her.  When Diego appeals to her join his motley crew, she has to make the decision to stick with Gutt or to join Diego, Manny and the herd
SCRAT (voice/squeaks by Chris Wedge)
When Scrat finds a treasure map, he becomes a world explorer and embarks on his biggest adventure yet.  Classic Scrat comedy ensues as Scrat painfully searches for the greatest nut treasure in recorded history
CAP’T GUTT (voiced by Peter Dinklage)
A prehistoric orangutan, Captain Gutt is a massive brute of a pirate who has taken advantage of the chaos caused by the Continental Drift to become the self-appointed Master of the Seas.  Whether he’s swinging through the rigging, leading his pirate crew in a shanty or just being an all-around badass dude, Gutt absolutely loves being a pirate and taking whatever he wants in the world.  But when Manny and his crew steals his ship and the bounty he has amassed, Gutt’s wrath knows no bounds and he becomes determined to find Manny and get revenge.
ETHAN  (Drake)
Teenage Mammoth heartthrob, Ethan is the object of Peaches’ first crush.  He hangs out with the cool kids and is mildly amused by Peaches’ attention.  At first Peaches is determined to do anything necessary to catch Ethan’s eye, but eventually she realizes he is more shallow than cool.
LOUIS (Josh Gad)
Peaches’ best friend is this soft-spoken, slightly nerdy molehog who is always dutifully by her side and eager to help, even if is to help her get closer to pretty boy Ethan.  When Peaches’ heart is ultimately broken by Ethan, Louis secretly wishes she could see that he’s the one who adores her just as she is.
SID’S GRANNY (Wanda Sykes)
Sid’s crochety grandmother becomes a large part of the adventure after accidentally stowing away on the barge with Manny and the gang as they head out to sea.  Extremely near sighted and highly opinionated, (a comedic combination) Granny causes loads of trouble for Sid and the guys, especially when she wanders off looking for her thought-to-be deceased pet, Precious.
FLYNN  (Nick Frost)
Flynn’s a 4000 pound English elephant seal with a heart of gold and a head of sand.  He’s as passionate about being a pirate as he is clueless.  He doesn’t know his port from his aft – and almost never remembers that being a sea creature means he can swim.  However, he makes up for what he lacks in intelligence with an abundance of enthusiasm.  Whoever coined the phrase “ignorance is bliss” clearly met Flynn first.
RAZ (Rebel Wilson)
This tough, prehistoric Aussie Sheila kangaroo, is the crew’s resident weapons expert, hiding an arsenal of deadly bone swords in her pouch.  Don’t mess with her….she’s just looking for a reason to party, and by party she means fight till you drop.
SQUINT (Aziz Ansari)
Squint packs an amazing amount of crazy into his diminutive, prehistoric rabbit frame.  If he were more than three feet tall and his adorable bunny ears didn’t always seem to pop up when agitated, he might genuinely be terrifying.  His two great passions are his bone knife and unprovoked acts of violence.
SILAS (Alain Chabat)
Perpetually perched on Capt. Gutt’s shoulder, this bird from the south of France packs a surprisingly dangerous airborne punch when he’s not scouting out trouble ahead.

" ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT” doubles the fun with Simpsons preview

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift coming to theaters

“Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” comes out in cinemas with a Simpsons short attached to the film when it opens on July 12 in cinemas nationwide.

Ice Age’s latest chapter in one of the most successful film franchises of all time brings together the visually epic and the emotionally powerful; the humorous and the heartfelt – plus the world’s  most beloved prehistoric squirrel and the ultimate unconventional herd of this or any Age.

Interwoven with these epic tales of family exploits are the continuing adventures of Scrat, whose sole purpose in life – whose very existence – revolves around an acorn as elusive as it is cherished.  Scrat’s quest for the nut has had consequences; in the first “Ice Age” Scrat’s obsession triggered the Ice Age itself.   In ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, Scrat and the object of his pursuits are nothing less than the catalyst for a cataclysm.  Forget what you’ve learned in geology about the continents forming as a result of massive tectonic turbulence and volcanic eruptions tearing land masses apart.   ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT reveals that these seismic shifts came about from Scrat’s misadventures.

The film reunites us with Scrat as he’s going about his usual business: he has grabbed the acorn, set it down on the ground – and suddenly a mountain is torn apart and the earth itself opens up, separating land masses into the seven continents.  Scrat hurtles toward the earth’s core, triggering massive earthquakes, which in turn isolates Manny, Diego and Sid from the rest of the herd.

This continental size of adventure from the Ice Age pack and a short animated feature focused on Maggie Simpson come July 12 in cinemas will surely bring in loads of fun to families and all.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” is from 20th Century Fox to be available in 2D and 3D format to be distributed by Warner Bros. in Philippine cinemas.

Check out 20th Century Fox (Philippines) in Facebook and 20thcenturyfoxph youtube pages to watch the latest trailers of “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” and a sneak peek at Maggie Simpson.

THE DARK SIDE OF ERIN WASSON IN “ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER”

Texas-born supermodel, designer, entrepreneur and actress, Erin Wasson plays the ruthless, sexy and evil vampire Vadoma in “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” directed by renowned Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov.

The thrilling film delivers an entirely original twist to the story of the iconic American president. Vampires are re-imagined as evil bloodthirsty slave traders and Lincoln (played by Ben Walker) is portrayed as a master at killing the supernatural creatures.   In this fantastical action-packed movie, the iconic leader Abraham Lincoln has a secret life alongside his presidential duties: hunting the undead. Rooted in historical fact that is blended skillfully with a fictional supernatural tale, Lincoln is portrayed as a man who was essentially the first superhero.

Ben Walker gives a powerful performance as President Lincoln. The film also stars Dominic Cooper as Henry, a high living ladies’ man who saves his life and instructs him on the art of vampire hunting. Rufus Sewell portrays Lincoln’s vampire nemesis Adam, commander of the vampire army. Erin Wasson plays the gorgeous vampire, Vadoma, Adam’s chief lieutenant and bodyguard. The film is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s bestselling novel.

Wasson sinks her teeth into a deliciously meaty and malevolent role – following is her q&a on her thoughts on beauty, fashion, martial arts and vampires.

This Means War!!! Now showing

Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.  Starring Resse Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.  This action packed, romantic comedy movie directed by McG has it all.  From laughs to great stunts, car chases, cool gadgets and great action scenes.

This for me is a must-see movie, even though it fared not so well with the critics, but surely it will be filled with funny moments and explosive warfare.  Well watching a movie is not about what critics have to say, but how your interest in the movie develops and how good it makes you feel after the movie.  Well, in this case, I highly recommend it for you will definitely have a great time.

Watch This Means War at your favorite movie houses, brought to us by 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros.

The Darkest Hour in 3D

The Darkest Hour in 3D

In Moscow, five young people lead the charge against an alien race who have attached Earth to claim our planet and drain its power resources and its energy.

Simple right?  Let's fight back!  But what if we can't see what we are fighting and another thing they have shields that make them so formidable.  The movie starts slow, with the cast venturing into a business that was supposed to make them rich and famous, but things turned out not the way they wanted.  Then without warning, tragedy struck and the aliens devoured all of Earth's power resources, and with the heat and energy that humans emit, making them the next target by the aliens.

The movie shown in 3D is action packed, though a little ambitious, is capable of bringing excitement and fear, and is definitely worth your buck.  Special effects are amazing and the storyline is as good as it gets.  Catch it in your favorite movie houses.  Now showing in amazing 3D, brought to us by 20th Century Fox.
