Panique outlasts Raquin in heated bid for 37th MILO Marathon finale post

MILO shatters record headcount 

with 42,214 runners in Manila race

Elite runners Eric Panique and Luisa Raterta blew the competition away at the 42K division race of the 37th National MILO Marathon Manila qualifying leg Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds, Pasay City. A record-shattering 42,214 runners joined the country’s premier footrace, marking the largest number of participants in a single race in the history of the MILO Marathon.

Along with other 42K qualifiers, Panique and Raterta each took home a cash prize of Php 50,000, a trophy and a coveted spot at the National Finals in December for their respective victories. To increase the level of competition this year, MILO will sponsor this season’s MILO Marathon King and Queen to the 2014 Paris Marathon next April.

My first ever 3K run... Vision in Motion 2011

It was very early in the morning of July 3, 2011, my brother, cousins and wifey woke up early to head to the SM Mall of Asia grounds for the Vision in Motion Fun Run 2011.  In full support for the advocacy set by Ideal Vision Center.  This was my first ever legit fun run and so I tried the 3K run. 

 Runners from all over the metro competed for their best times with the 3K, 5K, 10K and 25K runs.

I had so much fun running, but of course since this was my first ever run.  The acid started to kicked in after the first 500m, and so it turned from running to jogging... to you guessed it right walking.  And with that I realize, I am just out of shape.  So this might be the start of something good for me.  More fun runs to join and to give myself the gift of health.

And after that 3K run, my time goes to around 33 mins. ++, so next time would it be 5K? I don't think so, maybe a little more practice and more training on my part.  Hoping to join more of these fun runs around the metro.  See you in some fun run soon!!

Rexona Adventure Run 2011

The fourth leg in the RunRio series, Rexona Run is presented by Rexona Men Adventure with 24-hour time release technology, and offers bigger and more exciting prizes plus other thrilling activities that will bring running to a whole new level. 

Aside from cash prizes, medals and bragging rights for the winners in the 21K, 10K, 5K and 3K, all finishers will be eligible to win in the raffle. Up for grabs are three all-expense-paid adventures to one of the world’s most breathtaking icons -- the Great Wall of China.

The top finisher in the 21K category takes home P10,000 worth of prizes, while second and third place finishers get P7,000 and P5,000 worth of prizes, respectively.  In the 10K division, the top three finishers take home P7,000, P5,000 and P3,000 worth of prizes, respectively while in the 5K leg, cash prizes amounting to P5,000, P4,000 and P3,000 will be given to the first, second and third place finishers, respectively.  Finally, the top three finishers in the 3K leg bring home P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 plus a gift pack.

 

Registeration is ongoing until July 3, 2011 at RUNNR and R.O.X. stores in Bonifacio High Street, Toby’s SM Mall of Asia, Planet Sports Glorietta and Trinoma, The Athlete’s Foot Alabang Town Center and Robinsons Galleria and Stoked in Greenhills, Rockwell and Gateway.  You may also register at www.runrio.com or at the Rexona Philippines Facebook page from now until 12 midnight of July 3, 2011.  Late registrants may proceed to R.O.X. in Bonifacio High Street, Toby’s SM Mall of Asia and The Athlete’s Foot Robinson’s Galleria from July 4 – 10, 2011.  Race fee is P750 for the 21K leg, P600 for the 10K and 5K leg and P500 for the 3K division.
