Ariel brand ambassador Regine Velasquez-Alcasid talks about her parenting journey

As a first-time mom, Regine’s toughest challenge is something that many mothers can relate to – balancing work and taking care of the family. “The toughest challenge I faced as a first-time mom is being able to balance my time between my work and taking care of Nate. I literally had to reduce my workload so I could give my full attention to our child and in keeping our household intact in terms of day to day errands, doing chores, laundry, and more! I’m sure most parents would relate to this” she shares.
By far, it’s been a learning journey for Regine, who was recently named as Ariel Philippines’ brand ambassadress, but the challenges have enriched her life both as a mother and as a professional. She discovered that parenting is one of life’s greatest joys, providing wonderful moments to be savored.

Christmas is just right around the corner, and the season of readying presents, prepping feasts, planning reunions, and practicing holiday traditions have already started. You might even be worrying about finding unique presents as early as now, but there’s no need to fret since we’ve got some smart hacks for you!
Society often places great demands on women, expecting them to live up to standards that are often not asked of men. Our community is often harsh on those women who fail to live up to expectations – “kababaeng tao”, accusers would say, as they are judged, or even ridiculed or bashed in social media, for breaking traditional expectations.
In Filipino households, doing the laundry is traditionally seen as a woman’s sole responsibility. Thanks to the shift in people’s mindsets, aided by Ariel’s progressive #JuanWash campaign, that backwards thinking will soon be a thing of the past. Recognizing that chores can be done by anyone, Ariel rolled out the #JuanWash campaign which is targeted towards men. Its goal is straightforward and goes right into the heart of the matter – to get men to do their share of laundry duties, one wash at a time. For Ariel men, this goes beyond simply doing the laundry, as it also shows their support to their wives, and moulds their children into understanding the equal role of men and women in doing the household chores.
Perhaps no era has prompted a more dramatic shift in gender norms than this one; and these changes are most evident in one of the most basic facets of daily life — chores. Where household tasks were once viewed as “women’s work” decades prior, nowadays, a more equal division of tasks for cooking, cleaning, laundry duties, and the like in the new millennium is far from unusual. According to the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), Filipino men are getting more and more involved in household work. In fact, statistics show that a significant increase was seen in the beginning of 2000s, with employed men allotting an average of 5 hours working on chores. This is a big jump, compared to the average of 1.87 hours from the numbers gathered on employed men from 1979.
Ariel asks experts to tell the difference at the Ariel Experts vs. 100 Challenge
The Ariel Experts vs. 100 Challenge proves that even experts can get confused between what’s new and what’s old when it’s washed with Ariel.
The exciting challenge pitted clothing experts Metropole Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Inc. and Bench against 100 guests in answering questions on fashion, laundry and in trying to identify the difference between a new shirt and an old one stained and washed 10 times with Ariel.
Even the two clothing experts had a hard time figuring it out because Ariel Oxybleach has a unique oxybleach system that removes tough stains so well (even without scrubbing with a bar and brush!) that it can give clothes the care it needs to keep looking like new.
“With Ariel, our focus has always been to provide the latest detergent technology to moms to give them the perfect clean that they’ve always wanted,” said Ariel Country Marketing Manager, Danish Rahman.
“Ariel actually has a unique oxybleach system that consists of a bleach activator which decolorizes and removes the stain in the wash, plus photo-bleach, which is activated by sunlight during drying to provide additional bleaching effects and even enzymes that care for your clothes as it prevents ‘himulmol’. Through this advanced technology that removes stains really well, Ariel is able to keep your clothes looking like new.”
The event also served as the launch of the partnership between three clothing experts -- Ariel, the dry cleaning giant Metropole and one of the country’s leading fashion retailers, Bench, who have banded together to help Filipino moms take even better care of their family’s clothes.
.
Both Bench and Metropole agreed that Ariel Oxybleach is superior to other detergents in keeping clothes looking new.
“Being an Ariel user myself. I can say that Ariel’s oxybleach formula is indeed efficient in taking away stains. Another thing is with Ariel, you just soak your laundry without scrubbing too much – that way, your clothes will be kept looking like new,” said Patrick Tan, Senior Store Operations Manager of Bench.
Meanwhile, Metropole has actually been using Ariel since 2003, as it was evaluated (and continued to be) the best detergent to remove stains, as well as caring for apparel items.
“For the last seven years Ariel has been determined to be superior, against other detergents available in the market, in stain removal while at the same time maintaining the “like New” appearance of apparel items,” declared Adrian Asis, Vice President for Marketing.
“Most detergents were tested to work on white colored items but had the negative effect of fading colored items. Ariel was tested to be the detergent with the best balance of maintaining white colored items while also gentle enough to minimize fading on dark colored items.”
Aside from using Ariel, Bench and Metropole offered these tips to moms to help them keep their clothes looking like new.
“It is very important to follow wash care and ironing instructions – for example, some fabrics are delicate so they should only be handwashed and not ironed,” Tan said.
Metropole advises its customers to wash their clothes as soon as possible.
“Leaving clothes unattended after they have been worn, allows for stains to set and the fabric to weaken resulting to color fading. Perspiration is acidic in nature and exposure to acidic elements is the major cause of fabric degradation,” Asis said.
With the help of Ariel Oxybleach and sage advise from these two experts, keeping old clothes looking like new should prove no challenge – the only problem will be telling the difference between the two!
