The inaugural FIA Formula E Championship concluded in style, with e.dams-Renault clinching the Teams’ title after Race 1 on Saturday, June 27, thanks to the lights-to-flag victory of pole-winner Sébastien Buemi. The Swiss driver’s points haul of 28 points closed the gap to leader Nelson Piquet Jr to just five units ahead of Sunday’s action. That boosted his confidence, which was lifted further when Buemi got a dry qualifying slot (Q2) for Race 2, while title rival Piquet was slowed by a heavy shower during Q3.

A €1,000,000 grant to promote innovation geared towards sustainable mobility!

When the Le Mans 24 Hours race happens in June 2014 in Europe, MICHELIN will introduce the MICHELIN Total Performance Award -- a new competition that seeks to speed up innovation in favour of not only performance on the racetrack but also in sustainable mobility.

Originally announced in June 2013, a grant will be awarded to the first team which succeeds in fulfilling five criteria relating to performance, longevity and energy efficiency. When these five conditions are met, one million euros will be ploughed into the financing of research into sustainable mobility by an independent academic institute.

Just a single-receipt purchase of any MICHELIN passenger car or light truck (PCLT) tires, of the same pattern and tire size from January 31 to March 31 will give consumers a pre-loaded fuel card which can be used at selected Petron outlets nationwide. Consumers get a P1000 pre-loaded fuel card if they purchase four tires at once, while a purchase of two tires gives them a P500 pre-loaded fuel card. The fuel cards are transferable but not convertible to cash.

Philippine racer Marlon Stockinger places 7th in Formula Renault 3.5 Series

Lotus F1 team junior racer Marlon Stockinger returned to the track to compete in the World Series by Renault 3.5 Series in Budapest, finishing the three consecutive weekend races in 7^th place and a 2^nd place finish in the rookie podium.

The World Series by Renault consists of four championships primarily supplied by MICHELIN tires.

Stockinger is a Filipino-Swiss junior team driver for the Lotus F1 team who was also recently designated as driver of the Lotus team Formula 1 car in the well-received Manila Speed Show.

As much as 2400 tires for 120 cars are required for each of the four racing series with logistics in different countries and weather conditions. Six transporters distribute the rubber tires from a Michelin facility in Clemont-Ferrand to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, Eurocup Megané Trophy and the Clio Cup. A large selection of tires for different features and driving conditions are allocated for the World Series by Renault races.

Michelin tyres set new Pikes Peak record with Sebastian Loeb and Peugeot Sport

At last, the dream has become reality. Following months of team work, the savoir-faire of the engineers at Peugeot Sport and MICHELIN paid dividends when Frenchman Sébastien LOEB provided further evidence of his multifaceted talent with another top-flight performance. At about 17:40 (UTC), the nine-time world rally champion recorded a time of 8m13.878s for the infamous American hill climb. That was enough to win the „Ultimate‟ class and establish a brand new record for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado, USA, the world‟s most famous hill climb event which was organised for the 91st time this weekend.

The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak completed the 20-kilometre course‟s 156 turns to the mountain‟s summit at an average speed of 145.7kph.

MICHELIN to play pioneering role in new FIA Formula E Championship

MICHELIN Philippines Chief Representative Michael Nunag announced today that MICHELIN is the new FIA Formula E Championship’s official tyre partner from 2013 to 2015.

Following the selection process by the FIA (Federation International de l’Automobile), the French brand’s bid was chosen by the motorsport’s governing body for its savoir-faire in three different areas: its technical expertise, marketing plan and involvement in mobility promotion programs.

Pascal Couasnon, Director of the MICHELIN Group’s Motorsport Department, emphasized how pleased and proud the French tyre manufacturer was to have been selected to be a part of the new FIA Formula E Championship: “When it comes to energy efficient tyres and responsible motorsport, MICHELIN has emerged as a pioneer. This new race series is valued by MICHELIN through the facts that that it introduces a new form of power and it will bring the sport to city centres.

MICHELIN is official tire of 2013 ASIAN LE MANS SERIES

MICHELIN has been selected as the new tyre supplier of the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series, the premier sports car endurance racing challenge based in Asia and created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

Serge Grisin, director of MICHELIN’s four-wheel motorsport programs, and Mark Thomas Managing Director of the Asian Endurance Operating Company Limited, the licensee of the Asian le Mans Series, signed a deal which will see MICHELIN supply tires and associated services in 2013 to the Asian Le Mans. The event is organised by the Asian Endurance Operating Company Limited and sanctioned by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

MICHELIN was selected after a process that was open to all tyre manufacturers.
