TheShop.ph launches online shoe shop MarikinaShoes.theshop.ph

The City Government of Marikina in collaboration with LBC Express, Inc.’s TheShop.ph launches online shoe shop, MarikinaShoes.theshop.ph

The city government of Marikina, through the partnership of the Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO) and TheShop.ph by LBC, launched the online store, MarikinaShoes.theshop.ph, at Kapitan Moy, Centrong Pangkultura ng Marikina this July 8.

Among the program’s highlights were a walk through of the site’s features and an introduction of the eight (to date) manufacturers whose proudly Marikina-made shoes comprise the site’s product selection.

As the Philippines’ shoe capital, Marikina prides itself on durable handcrafted shoes by family-owned shoe manufacturing companies. The shoe making tradition has been passed down from one generation to the next, ensuring the preservation of time-tested techniques and exceptional quality. MASIDO, an alliance between family-owned businesses, with the guidance of the city government was established to develop and uphold the local shoe industry.

One of MASIDO’s core concerns is how to promote the Marikina shoe industry to a wider audience. To address this, they have partnered up with the nation’s largest logistics company, LBC Express Inc. in order to build the online shop MarikinaShoes.theshop.ph

The site was created using TheShop.ph, an eCommerce platform developed to empower Filipino sellers and provide the Filipino consumer with quality merchandise.

To illustrate, TheShop.ph by LBC’s COO Philips Yu shared that “If there is anything that stands out, it’s Filipino talent. The shoes of Marikina are of good quality and making them available online is more convenient for buyers, as it’s virtually like a physical store at a high traffic area yet allows them to shop without leaving the comfort of their homes. This accessibility is what will make Marikina the shoe capital of the world. Let’s make Filipinos proud of their own via MarikinaShoes.theshop.ph.”

With regard to sellers, Marikina City Councilor and MASID Council Vice Chairman, Mario de Leon reassured partner shoe manufacturers that “We will be with you every step of the way in moving your products forward. We are not just going to deliver shoes, but also smiles to your customers’ doorsteps.”

To cap off the launch, Marikina City Mayor and MASID Council Chairman, Hon. Del de Guzman said, “We are thankful for this collaboration with TheShop.ph by LBC. Through them, not only we will be reintroduced internationally, but this will also help our industry.”

MASIDO looks forward to the future, as marikinashoes.theshop.ph will bring them closer to fulfilling their main goal: to provide Asian consumers with the best handcrafted shoes by 2016.
