Pru Life UK tops the life insurance industry in 2024

The insurer achieved Php 9.8 billion in new business premiums, ahead of its closest competitor by 8.87%

Pru Life UK continues to lead the Philippine life insurance industry, achieving the highest New Business Annual Premium Equivalent (NBAPE) of Php 9.8 billion in full year 2024 according to the latest Insurance Commission report. The company stayed strong with its 33% quarter-on-quarter growth in the fourth quarter of 2024, widening the gap to 8.87% compared to its nearest competitor. In particular, Pru Life UK is strong in Premium Income from Variable Life Insurance with a total of Php 46.1 billion and Renewal Premium Income from Variable Life Insurance reaching Php 36.2 billion

This performance demonstrates Pru Life UK's commitment to protecting more Filipino families through innovative insurance solutions that cater to their evolving needs and the high level of trust customers place in the company. Recently, Pru Life UK introduced PRUMillion Flex, a limited-offer investment-linked insurance plan with a short two-year payment period, and PRUFlexi Income Fund, which provides potential monthly payouts from global investments. These new offerings address the growing demand for wealth-building options, giving Filipinos more ways to secure their financial future.

Pru Life UK launches critical illness protection plan for Filipino families

A first in the market to cover up to four family members in one policy

Leading life insurer Pru Life UK launches PRUHealth FamLove, a protection plan that shares the critical illness coverage to up to four family members in one policy, a first-of-its-kind product in the market. This is available for all Filipino families, including same-sex or common-law partners, parents, and adoptive children.

PRUHealth FamLove is a yearly renewable protection plan that provides long-term coverage until age 85 (applicable when the premium is continuously paid), against high treatment and hospitalization costs due to critical illness.

According to a 2019 study by Mercer Marsh Benefits*, critical illness cost in the Philippines is the second most expensive in South East Asia. Lung cancer treatment costs can lead up to Php 2.78 million, stroke is for Php 1.8 million, while a heart attack is for Php 980,000**.

Pru Life UK is keen to protect more Filipinos, particularly health workers, with its free COVID-19 protection and PA coverage — a one-time, 45-day insurance against the unfortunate event that the individual passes away as a result of COVID-19 or an accident. This limited, exclusive offer is available to the first 500,000 persons who register their profiles on the Pulse app until June 15, 2020. The coverage is effective from the date of registration.

Pru Life UK launches free COVID-19 protection for Filipinos through health app, Pulse


Leading life insurer Pru Life UK is offering free COVID-19 protection and Personal Accident (PA) coverage to safeguard Filipinos amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Under the program, Pru Life UK will offer free accident and death benefit to 500,000 Filipinos, in the unfortunate event that the individual passes away, including as a result of COVID-19. Health workers are entitled to twice the death coverage at no cost. This offer is available through Pulse, Pru Life UK’s artificial intelligence-powered health and wellness app that offers holistic health management.

The free COVID-19 protection and PA coverage is a one-time, 45-day insurance, available to the first 500,000 persons who register their profiles on the Pulse app, effective from the date of registration. Those who have been diagnosed with, have symptoms of, have been under quarantine for COVID-19, or have been living with a COVID-19 patient at the time of registration are not eligible for this offer. Other excluded conditions are listed in the terms and conditions of the product.

Starting April 11, 2020, all Filipinos aged 18 to 64 can enjoy this limited, exclusive offer, which includes a death benefit or lump sum amount of Php 100,000 for the bereaved family if the insured passes away due to accident, or as a result of COVID-19, subject to terms and conditions. Eligible health workers will receive a double COVID-19 death benefit worth Php 200,000. No purchase of any insurance product is required.

Financial Planning Linked to Stronger and Richer Relationships


People who regularly discuss their finances with their partner are more likely to be fulfilled and optimistic in their relationships than those who are not, according to the 2017 Pru Life Relationship Index (PRI), an in-depth survey that investigates key factors influencing the strength and sustainability of personal relationships in the Asia-Pacific region. 

“We observed a strong link between financial planning and good relationships,” says Allan Tumbaga, Pru Life UK SVP and Chief Marketing Officer. “Moreover, those who plan with their significant others expect their love lives and finances to improve in the next five years.”
