Falling Skies on AXN Beyond

Falling Skies lands on your TV sets Oct. 3

Executive produced by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List) and co-created with Oscar nominated screenwriter Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan), Falling Skies, US cable TV’s top new series of 2011 is set to unleash an extraterrestrial invasion of apocalyptic proportions upon Asia’s audiences.

The riveting new blockbuster science fiction TV series premieres 3 October and airs on Mondays at 8.20pm in 14 markets across the region, first and exclusively on pay-TV channel AXN Beyond.  With Steven Spielberg himself involved in shaping the script, cast, edits, post production to even the aliens and spaceships, AXN Beyond viewers can expect a world class production in Falling Skies. The series hails from the TV production and distribution division of Hollywood studio DreamWorks Pictures, DreamWorks Television, which has been responsible for global hit shows such as The Pacific and Band of Brothers.

Falling Skies is an epic saga in the aftermath of an all-out invasion of Earth by aliens. Set in the chaotic world left completely devastated by the extraterrestrial attack, Falling Skies picks up six months into the alien occupation where the few survivors have come together outside what is left of key cities in an attempt to fight back.

Falling Skies stars Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominee Noah Wyle (E.R.) as Tom Mason, a Boston history professor whose wife was killed in the invasion and the second of his three sons was captured by aliens. Determined to rescue his son and safeguard his two other boys, Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history and strategies to the test as the second-in-command of ‘2nd Mass.’, a resistance force named after their base in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mighty, mysterious and merciless, the extraterrestrial conquerors are highly intelligent and are able to fight using military-like tactics. Combining live-action and visual effects, aliens named ‘Skitters’ are six-legged spider-like monsters with incredible strength and agility. Bipedal, robotic ‘Mechs’ walk upright and fire deadly projectiles from their arms. The ‘Skitters’ and ‘Mechs’ serve even more powerful extraterrestrials that will be unveiled in the series.

A tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which ordinary people are called upon to become heroes, Falling Skies – with the off- and on-screen magic of Spielberg, Rodat, Wyle and more – will unfold as a blockbuster saga of human’s last stand this October, only on AXN Beyond!

Falling Skies premieres 3 October, airing Mondays at 8.20pm in commercial-free double episodes, first and exclusively on AXN Beyond

AXN brings to us Blue Bloods

Blue Bloods: When Law Means More Than Blood Ties
Tom Selleck makes stellar comeback in new family-cop drama
“... skillfully done and performed.”
- USA TODAY
"CBS's 'Blue Bloods' is one of the best new series of the fall season…solid and satisfying"
St. Louis Post Dispatch

AXN, Southeast Asia’s No. 1 international channel, is excited to be the first in Asia to premiere Blue Bloods. This latest offering is by the same award-winning producers of hit TV series The Sopranos, Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green; and the creator that gave audiences iconic TV series Charlies’ Angels, Starsky and Hutch and Fantasy Island, Leonard Goldberg.

Praised as “one of the season’s five best new shows” by Entertainment Weekly, Blue Bloods has indeed lived up to its promise. The series debut in the United States was CBS’ highest rated Friday night premiere in 6 years! Critics universally praise Blue Bloods for its compelling characters, brilliant writing and engaging plot lines. In fact, the show has done so well for CBS that its shift from Friday to Wednesday nights has been a stellar success, topping its best ratings since its premiere!

A drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement, Blue Bloods marks multi-award winning Tom Selleck’s (Magnum P.I., Jesse Stone) return to prime-time TV. The stellar cast of young and seasoned actors include Donnie Wahlberg (Righteous Kill, Band of Brothers), Broadway luminary Len Cairou (Damages, The West Wing) and Bridget Moynahan (Coyote Ugly, Sex and the City).
Frank Reagan (Selleck) is the New York Police Commissioner and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood.  He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry (Cairou), during his stint as commissioner.  A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son Danny (Wahlberg), a seasoned detective and Iraqi War veteran who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases.
