Contrary to popular thinking, even the indoors do not provide enough protection from the damaging rays of the sun. In fact, studies show that staying by a window indoors all day long without sunscreen is equivalent to the sun damage experienced from taking a 15-minute walk out during lunch time.
According to the American Cancer Society and the Skin Care Foundation, 62.8% of UVA rays can penetrate building and car windows. Moreover, fluorescent lighting can also produce small amounts of UV rays that can be damaging to skin over time.
