Japan's surprise hit “IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD” opens June 28 in Phils. Cinemas

Japan’s recent sleeper hit and highly-acclaimed movie “In this Corner of the World” will finally open in Philippine cinemas on June 28.

In producing the film, director Sunao Katabuchi with the rest of the team turned to crowdfunding and in no time was able to start production on the film from the help of the fans and public who strongly supported the film. From the initial 63 theaters in Japan, “In this Corner of the World” eventually played in 195 screens and has so far reached more than US$ 19 million in box-office receipts in Japan alone.

Animax brings you the sequel to the hit Anime "Last Exile"

Do you remember that death-defying episode when our two vanships couriers encountered the mysterious girl that is said to be the “key” to bring peace in their world?  Any diehard anime fan would probably say “yes”. Well, I did.

It was approximately 10 years ago when I watched the steampunk epic, Last Exile; and I must say it was one hell of a ride. When I encountered the Animax teaser online, I had a feeling that Gonzo – the studio behind "Last Exile" and other hit series such as Gatekeepers and Fullmetal Panic – is bringing another masterpiece.

The encrypted Morse code message on the teaser that clearly said “EXILE” practically gave it away. Finally, after weeks of waiting Animax Asia reveals that the sequel to the 2003 hit anime will be called Last Exile – Fam, the Silver Wing – and will be aired on Animax same day as Japan. This time however, the much-awaited sequel to Last Exile has a different story, a new set of characters, and kickass vanship designs!

K-ON! Complete Special Airs on Animax July 13!

K-On!, Japan’s moe (cute) anime sensation is returning to audiences in its complete form of two full TV anime seasons along with an unaired OVA show, starting this July on Animax!

Follow high school girls Yui (guitar), Ritsu (drums), Mio (bass) Tsumugi (keyboard), and Azusa (guitar) on their comical yet heart-warming journey to becoming the hottest band in school.

Drummer Ritsu and bassist Mio are the only members of the school's pop music club. They are too excited to put their musical talents to good use but because they lack members in the band, they are being threatened to close. Recruiting Tsumugi to play the keyboard, they need just one more member to keep the club going.

Unable to even read sheet music, new high school student Yui joins thinking she will play castanets – the only instrument she can play – while the trio mistakes her to be a guitar prodigy! Comedy ensues as they discover the truth and help Yui learn the guitar for real. And later with Azusa joining them, the girls go on to become a full-fledged pop band in time to play for the school’s festival.

In season 2, the girls are in their third and final year in high school. Back to their favourite music room to practice, the five get even better as a band, and go on the quest to recruit new members to their club. Fans can look forward to catching the bonus OVA episode that follows at the end of the second season, previously not broadcast on Animax.

From Kyoto Animation, the studio which gave us hit anime franchise The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On! is a very popular anime TV series in Japan, with Blu-Ray DVDs of the show also top sellers. The five girls of K-On! are also the first-ever fictional characters to have a music album top the Japanese national music chart.
