Coca-Cola PH bottler and MMDA partner to boost PET bottle collection and recycling

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. kicks off partnership with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for clear PET bottle collection within select Metro Manila barangays

Sealing the partnership are key representatives from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI). From left to right: MMDA General Manager Usec. Procopio Lipana, MMDA Deputy Chairman Usec. Frisco San Juan Jr., MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Romando S. Artes, CCBPI VP for Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, and CCBPI Commercial Unit Director for Greater Manila Area Adrian Javier, lead the significant collaboration to promote cleaner and waste-free Metro Manila through the Mobile Material Recovery Facility and Tapon to Ipon program in barangays.

A waste recovery and recycling campaign kicked off across the country’s capital region as part of a significant partnership between Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI), the local bottler of the global beverage brand, and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

This partnership seamlessly integrates CCBPI’s Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo! Program with MMDA’s Mobile Material Recovery Facility (MMRF) project tagged “Recyclable Mo, Palit Grocery Ko” where community members can exchange various recyclable materials for commodities or grocery items within a 4-month pilot period. MMDA’s MMRF program now serves as a collection channel for used clear PET bottles of any brand, as well as Coca-Cola returnable glass bottles and crates, which are equivalent to points that participants can exchange for Coca-Cola products.

Coca-Cola celebrates a successful decade of empowering 250,000 women entrepreneurs in the Philippines

Last October 2020, Coca-Cola Philippines and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) launched the STAR program’s digital roadmap, iSTAR. With this program, Coca-Cola Philippines is expected to reach more Filipinos to become economically empowered as entrepreneurs.

Coca-Cola believes that improving women’s economic conditions enables the creation of more empowered communities. In 2010, the beverage company made a global commitment to empower 5 million women across its value chain by 2020. Today, on International Women’s Day, Coca-Cola announced that it has surpassed its global goal, enabling more than 6 million women through 318 programs across 100 countries. Here in the Philippines, Coca-Cola announced that it has successfully supported the economic empowerment of about 250,000 women retailers all over the Philippines—this represents 21% of the total universe of small sari-sari store owners in the country.

“Through this program over the last decade, we’ve seen women creating a ripple effect of change. As we move forward in this new decade, we will continue our commitment to fostering gender equality and support women as they challenge the barriers and the Kababae Mong Tao (Unlady-like) narratives in our society,” says Tony del Rosario, president of Coca-Cola Philippines and vice president for franchise operations of the East Region for Coca-Cola ASEAN and South Pacific. “This is good for society, good for business, and good for socio-economic progress.”

Coca Cola Philippines: Brings Water To 16 Communities With Hydraulic Ram Pump

The Philippines is known for its water resource seas that are abundant with fish and other marine ecosystems, rivers and lakes that host freshwater flora and fauna, and springs that are considered to be one of the cleanest. However, there are communities that still do not have access to water.
For generations, upland communities have lived lives that required them to wake up early to draw water from distant sources; a life where children would spend more time drawing water for household use than playing outdoors; a life where mothers juggle between providing water for their families and finding the time to care and nurture.

Coca-Cola Philippines and PCW enjoin the entire nation in celebrating the International Women’s Day by forming the biggest human woman’s symbol—a strong affirmation on their commitment to economically empower the Filipino women.

Coca-Cola Philippines, in cooperation with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), launch the Women's Month Celebration with the theme: Juana ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong— a celebration of the Filipino women's resiliency and the country's journey towards disaster-recovery.

Kicking-off the month-long event is an attempt to set the record of the most participated women symbol formation at the Quirino Grandstand, March 08, with Coca-Cola and PCW gathering over 10,000 participants from the national and local government, academic institutions, and civil society organizations.

On January 2014, Coca-Cola Philippines in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity will be embarking on a massive program to help our brothers and sisters in Visayas get back on their feet. This is Project Rebuild. Believing that no act is too small to make a difference in the lives of Yolanda survivors, the project proponents are calling for more donations and more hands to aid in full reconstruction and recovery.

Coca-Cola calls on youth groups to join the 2013 TAYO Awards

Cebuano Youth Ambassadors
Coca-Cola Philippines, through its social investment arm Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc., is calling on youth groups all over the Philippines to join this year's Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards, which recognizes the outstanding contributions of Filipino youth organizations in social development through innovative projects.

TAYO's partnership with Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. began in 2005 through the "Coke Barkada Award," which is given to the group that best demonstrates the Coke Barkada spirit of collective volunteerism, or "working together for the community and living the value of positive action for positive change.” The winning group receives a trophy and a cash grant. The award is part of the Foundation’s response to the global initiative of Coca-Cola that aims to focus on sustainability by improving personal well-being, building stronger communities, and protecting the environment. Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. has been the sole co-presenter of the TAYO Awards since 2006.
