The 8th Spring Film Festival at the Shangri-La Plaza cinemas - Admission is FREE

The 8th Spring Film Festival
Shangri-La Plaza Mall
January 24 - February 2, 2014

Chinese New Year is fast approaching, as we celebrate the coming of the year of the horse, let us celebrate with this year's 8th Spring Film Festival.

The Spring Festival is one of the most celebrated festivals in the Chinese-Filipino community. For the past eight years, the Ateneo de Manila University Ricardo Leong Center for Chinese Studies and the Ateneo Celadon have brought the joys and artistry of the culture of Chinese films to the Philippines through the annual Spring Film Festival.

Over the years, we have extended our reach and have held the festival simultaneously in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao, with the recent addition of Ilo-Ilo and Cagayan de Oro to our list of festival destinations just last year. On the 8th Spring Film Festival we will further expand our audience to Naga, Dagupan, and Baguio showing 8 Chinese films.  See what are the Chinese films to show.

Film Screenings are FREE of Charge, but guests are limited to cinema seating capacity only.

Welcoming the Year of the Metal Rabbit

This year we welcome the year of the metal rabbit, some say this is a good year others say no.  But to say the least it is still a start of the new year, so let me show the sights around Chinatown, the place I call my home.
Ongpin Street, is the center of Chinatown in Binondo, where you would feel like you have been transported  to Hong Kong or Taiwan or even China.  Chinatown in the Philippines dated back as early as the early 1940's and became more productive after WWII.  Since then Chinatown has blossomed to become the  central business district of Manila and  where good food and people meet.  Many food finds can be tasted here as such that there has even Binondo walk tours with many food finds led by Mr. Carlos Celdran for one.
