Prieto-Valdes and Tinga, the driving forces behind what is probably the most awaited fashion event for a cause in the country, gave the event, which will feature designer Rajo Laurel, a fitting launch at the elegant Champagne Room of the historic Manila Hotel.
Laurel, who is marking his 25th year in the local fashion industry, is presenting the collection Archipelago that draws inspiration from Philippine culture and history and well-known tourist attractions. The clothes will use indigenous materials adapted to current trends.
Prieto-Valdes and Tinga said this year’s gala would not only raise funds for their favorite charities, The Philippine Red Cross and the Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation, but would also start a scholarship fund at Mint College for young aspiring talents.
For the past 10 years, the Red Charity Gala has showcased the works of the best Filipino creative talents in fashion while raising funds and building awareness for worthwhile causes.
