ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES kicks off with three All-Indonesian bouts

Indonesia has always been a hotbed for mixed martial arts in Southeast Asia, and the country is starting to produce some excellent athletes.

After all, ONE Championship has regularly held blockbuster shows in Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta ever since the organization’s second-ever card in 2012.

What’s more, world-class gyms the likes of Jakarta Muay Thai & MMA and Bali MMA have emerged, producing top talents that have been making a name for themselves on the global stage.

Showcasing the potential of the country’s homegrown mixed martial artists on the most prestigious stage of competition, three All-Indonesian bouts are set to kick off ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES, which takes place at the Jakarta Convention Center on 22 September.

A 59-kilogram catchweight contest between Riski Umar and Egi Rozten is tasked to set the tone for the entire evening, serving as the event’s curtain-raiser match.

Both men first crossed paths last January at ONE: KINGS OF COURAGE, where Umar notched a first-round technical knockout win over Rozten.

Umar seeks to establish a two-bout winning streak after pulling off a second-round submission victory over compatriot Doan Birawa this past May, while former regional boxing champion Rozten is driven put himself back on the winning track.

In another Indonesian vs. Indonesian encounter, ONE Strawweight Indonesian Tournament Champion Adrian Mattheis Adrian Mattheis tests his mettle with Angelo Bimaodji.

One of the top strawweights from Indonesia, Mattheis has faced some of the biggest names in ONE Championship, including Rene Catalan, Kritsada Kongsrichai and Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke.

After yielding to Robin Catalan last July via second-round submission, Mattheis looks to redeem himself at the expense of Bimaodji, a former Garuda Fight League champion who makes his first stride in ONE Championship.

Slated as the third bout of the night, “The Terminator” Sunoto returns to action as he faces Victorio “Indra” Senduk in a three-round bantamweight clash.

Sunoto and Senduk are aiming to reinsert their names into the winner’s column after falling short in their respective assignments in ONE Championship a few months ago.

Aside from the three All-Indonesian matches that are booked for ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES, two more hometown favorites are scheduled to compete on the stacked card.

Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol is set to duke it out with Filipino breakout star Jomary Torres in an atomweight collision.

Meanwhile, ONE Indonesia Flyweight Tournament Champion Stefer Rahardian battles Chinese National Greco-Roman Wrestling standout Peng Xue Wen in the co-headliner of ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES.

ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES is headlined by a strawweight championship rematch between division kingpin Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito and Filipino arch-nemesis Joshua “The Passion” Pacio.
