Orange
Magazine PH proudly marks its 15th anniversary this
July. From its formal launch in 2010, the platform has evolved from the bold
vision of its founder into a dynamic and influential digital hub, demonstrating
remarkable progress in the ever-changing media landscape.
The brainchild of Jessie Bunyi Villanueva, widely known as Jeman, Orange Magazine was born from a deep passion for magazines
and a keen understanding of the internet's potential. A former tabloid
correspondent and promotions coordinator for print publications, Jeman saw an opportunity
to redefine media.
"I’ve
always wanted to have my own magazine where I can accommodate every kind of
information that pleases me without others telling me what and what not to
publish," Jeman shares about his inspiration.
The name "Orange" was chosen deliberately, as Jeman explains that he chose the name to signify content that is always fresh, always relevant, and true. He adds that orange is the color of dawn, representing a new day and a fresh start. This philosophy guided the magazine's early focus on "fresh elements" – the hottest fashion, newest trends, and coolest entertainment personalities.
Jeman's decision to go digital was
strategic and forward-thinking. "Since
Internet content is the new media, I knew that whatever I produce online will
be more accessible to readers as well as easier to get sponsors and advertisers
for. It is also faster to promote with the help of social networking sites."
Orange Magazine aimed to reach "everyone who knows how to use the
internet," a broad appeal achieved without compromising on content
integrity, particularly avoiding explicit material to cater to its diverse
audience, including teens.
Early on, Orange Magazine quickly garnered
attention, featuring a remarkable array of local and international
personalities. This impressive roster includes K-Pop groups like One Way, 2AM, and Jay Park;
global acts such as Westlife, 30 Seconds To Mars, Bruno Mars, and Melanie Chisholm (a.k.a. Sporty Spice); and prominent Filipino
figures like Christian Bautista, Anne Curtis-Smith, Jessa Zaragoza, Gloc-9, Glaiza De Castro, Rhian Ramos, The Itchyworms,
the Philippine Azkals members, Rea Anicoche Tan of Beautederm
Corporation, and Senator Gringo Honasan,
among many others.
To date, Orange Magazine has recorded 7.3
MILLION reach on Facebook, 3.8 MILLION reach on TikTok, 1.8 MILLION reach on
Instagram, and 41.2 MILLION views on YouTube. This success was fuelled by a
commitment to interesting content and engaging contests for its loyal
followers.
Beyond Jeman, who serves as online publisher
and editor-in-chief, the magazine's continued growth is significantly
attributed to its dynamic team that ensures Orange Magazine consistently
delivers relevant and compelling content, embodying the collaborative spirit
that has driven its success.
"Looking
back, I first connected with Orange Magazine by covering their events. Now,
thanks to them, I’ve worked with my dream brands and traveled overseas; it’s
been nothing short of a blessing,” said Kister Morata, Jeman’s business partner who is also a content
creator. “Jeman built a strong
foundation, but the continuous evolution of Orange Magazine has been a
collective effort; It’s inspiring to be part of a platform that never stops
adapting and growing.”
Under Jeman’s lead, Team Orange is always
looking for innovative ways to engage their audience, whether it's through new
social media formats or interactive features.
Another team member and content creator, Sharmaine Rodriguez, said, “When I joined, I was immediately struck by
the energy and openness to new ideas. It's a place where you can truly
contribute to shaping the narrative, and seeing our work resonate with
thousands of readers is incredibly rewarding."
As Orange Magazine celebrates its 15th
anniversary, it stands as a testament to pioneering digital media in the
Philippines. The online magazine remains committed to its founding principles
of freshness, relevance, and truth, looking ahead to further innovation and
continued engagement with its ever-expanding readership.
Orange Magazine successfully celebrated its
15th year, a milestone that’s one for the books, with a fun-filled and
rewarding party held at Timezone in
Ayala Malls Feliz, last July 1, 2025.
Numerous bloggers, vloggers and content
creators attended the celebration to share in Orange Magazine’s success and
express their continuous support for the platform. It shows how Orange Magazine
established a tight-knit community within the online industry.
Guests enjoyed the activities, prizes, and
a chance to network and form collaborations to further create fresh, engaging
content, qualities that made Orange Magazine a trailblazer in the field.
