Teen Rom-Com “LOVE, ROSIE” to finally open January 8 in local cinemas

Love, Rosie to finally open January 8th

The wait is almost over, as “Love, Rosie” opens up in cinemas this January 8 in local (Phils.) cinemas where two of today’s most loved young actors Lily Collins and Sam Claflin star as Rosie and Alex who have been best friends since they were five. When it comes to love, life and making the right choices, these two are their own worst enemies.  But one awkward turn at 18, one missed opportunity...and life sends them hurling in different directions. Could they be the one true love for each other after all?

Based on Cecelia Ahern’s bestselling novel “Where Rainbows End”, LOVE, ROSIE is a sassy, heart-warming, and utterly modern comedy-of-errors tale posing the ultimate question: Do we really only get one shot at true love?  “How do you adapt a book that’s all texts and emails,” says producer Simon Brooks of one of the project’s biggest challenges – the novel’s epistolary structure, composed around the emails, letters and text messages which Alex and Rosie exchange. “How do you make that into a movie?”

“Sobrang excited ko (I was so excited),” young Yasmene enthused.

From Red Sea to London's Red Carpet – “EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS” Premiere photos

Status: Relationship complicated in romantic comedy “PLAYING IT COOL”

In today’s status driven world, “Playing It Cool” comes at the most opportune of time with a very simple, classic yet relatable theme on love – Chris Evans plays a writer, disillusioned by love, was suddenly tasked by his publisher to write a rom-com novel.  Not only does it hamper his next book’s publication, but for one who has been avoiding commitments for so long, he’s even more surprised to realize that he’s falling head over heels to someone (Michelle Monaghan) who  is already engaged.

This generation’s signature story, “Playing It Cool,” written by Chris Schafer and Paul Vicknair have penned a story that will move audiences around the world – a material so cinematic that it demands to be translated into film.
With their debut screenplay, telling an artful love story in a style so fresh and unique it will undoubtedly be embraced by young audiences around the world as their story – the love story of our time.

At its core, the tale is simple and timeless. A young man, disillusioned by love, meets a breathtaking young woman who turns his world upside down. Narrated by our protagonist, the story captures in equal parts the heartache and comedy that comes from being young and in love, and through a series of well crafted vignettes that are scattered throughout the film, we’re offered glimpses into the mind of our hero as he resolves his emotions through these highly imaginative and comedic escapes from reality.

Producer Nicolas Chartier couldn’t be more excited to release the film, “I love this film and am honored to have the opportunity to produce it alongside my partners. Our audiences demand compelling storytelling, fresh thinking, and above all, authenticity. Playing It Cool delivers on all of these levels – creating an honest portrayal of the difficulty of love and life, told in a way that leaves all of us feeling refreshed and ultimately…optimistic.”

11-year old Isaac Andrews stars alongside Christian Bale in Ridley Scott's “EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS”

As more filmmakers, producers and actors collaborate to revitalize stories from the bestselling book of all time all over the world translated into all languages - critics and movie audience find themselves in a great divide on each and every (filmed) interpretation of a story lifted from the Bible.
Despite questions circling Ridley Scott’s upcoming “Exodus: Gods and Kings,”  Rotten Tomatoes’ Audience Score of the film reveals a high 97% rating in terms of anticipation from  those very eager to watch the film.  Likewise, early reviews reflect some of the critics’ positive take such that from Variety’s Justin Chang who says that “What’s remarkable about Scott’s genuinely imposing Old Testament psychodrama is the degree to which he succeeds in conjuring a mighty and momentous spectacle — one that, for sheer astonishment, rivals any of the lavish visions of ancient times the director has given us — while turning his own skepticism into a potent source of moral and dramatic conflict.”

John Malkovich plays octopus with ginormous grudge against the “PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR”

John Malkovich, considered as one of the world’s lead actor of his generation and who has made an important mark in cinema, lends voice to Dreamworks’ “Penguins of Madagascar’s” tentacled nemesis who goes by the name Dave aka Dr. Octavius Brine.

A renowned geneticist, cheese-enthusiast (at least he has that in common with the Penguins) and donor to public radio pledge drives, the good doctor’s limbs are skewed at impossible angles, which isn’t that surprising because he’s actually an octopus named Dave. Raiding Fort Knox for a tasty treat is nothing compared to the challenges the Penguins face when they come up against Dr. Octavius Brine.  And Dave bears a ginormous grudge against the Penguins.  Dave was once a star attraction at various zoos around the world, until the adorable, cuter-than-cute Penguins stole the spotlight away from him, relegating him forever as an exhibit also-ran.  “You took everything from me!” he bellows at the Penguins, and he’s about to take extreme measures to once again become a star attraction.

The filmmakers wanted Dave to be an adversary whom audiences wouldn’t soon forget.  “Dave is a villain like those in the classic tradition of the James Bond films,” says producer Mark Swift.  “He has a big agenda; this is a guy who wants to change the world.”

Summit Natural Drinking Water, in its continuing effort to inspire Filipinos to thirst for more, has reached for a new goal – to lower its carbon footprint. In a simple but effective packaging change, Summit 500 ml and 350 ml bottles now sport a more streamlined cap that saves almost 500,000 tons of manufactured PET a year.

This is equivalent to the amount of carbon absorbed by 3.7 million trees, or removing over 100,000 cars from the road for one year. The initiative is part of Summit Water’s latest campaign – Thirst for More, by defying limits, stepping out of comfort zones, and going beyond the norm. By being conscious of the environment, Summit Water has upped its game, encouraging Filipinos to do the same.

Says Abe Cipriano, AVP for Marketing, Non-Alcoholic Beverages at Asia Brewery, “Thirst for more is about pushing your boundaries and finding new ways to one-up yourself. For Summit Natural Drinking Water, this small change has a great positive effect on the environment, and ultimately, on all of us. We encourage everyone to start with small steps to achieve even bigger goals.”
