20
Coke Barkadahan Grant awardees named
20
projects to help education, environment and healthy living causes to be funded
by Coca-Cola
After careful deliberation of applications
from college organizations all over Metro Manila, 20 projects by students
that aim to help educational, environmental and healthy living causes have been
selected and awarded by Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, the social investment
arm of Coca-Cola Philippines and Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, under its Coke
Barkadahan Grants Program.
Awardees each received P20,000 for projects
ranging from building mini-libraries near public elementary schools to
reforesting the border of Lian, Batangas with mangroves.
The Coke Barkadahan Grants Program aims to
open opportunities for Filipino college students to execute their own project
proposals on environmental stewardship, education, and active healthy living.
"Coca-Cola wants to inspire the youth
to be active players in nation-building,” says Cecile Alcantara, president of
Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines (CCFPI). “We believe in supporting the
building blocks of every young person's development through education and
health, and championing the drive to cultivate the spirit of citizenship."
The Coke Barkadahan Grants Program is
aligned with the global Coca-Cola sustainability framework, "Me, We,
World," which focuses on improving personal well-being ("Me"),
building stronger communities ("We") and protecting the environment
("World").
Guillermo Aponte, President and General
Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines and concurrently chairman of CCFPI; Juan
Carlos Dominguez, Human Resource and Corporate Communications director of
Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines and vice-chairman of CCFPI; and Atty. Adel Tamano,
vice-president for Public Affairs and Communications of Coca-Cola Philippines
joined Ms. Alcantara in personally awarding the winners.
