Audi, VW and Michelin: 13 Le Mans victories and 42 WRC wins

Audi and Volkswagen have announced their intention to withdraw from the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) respectively at the end of the season.

The Audi R18 and the VW Polo R WRC will appear competitively for the final time on the same weekend (November 18-20) at the WEC’s 6 Hours of Bahrain and the WRC’s Rally Australia respectively.

For both companies, it is a chapter of motorsport history that is about to close, although they have already announced alternative plans, no doubt in association with Michelin: Audi is going to turn its attention to Formula E and Volkswagen has a customer programme project lined up in rallying.
