Kiana Valenciano takes center stage at the East Wing on August 19,Saturday at 6 PM. The young, rising singer who comes from a family of musicians is making a name for herself with her original R&B-electro-pop-influenced music. Fans and first-time listeners can catch this free not-to-be-missed performance from OPM’s new, promising artist.
Shang continues to celebrate young artists as they host the culmination of Ateneo de Manila University’s Ateneo Art Awards for 2017. Winners of the Fernando Zóbel Prizes for Visual Art and the Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prizes in Art Criticism will be awarded and will have their works on display at the East Wing from August 22 to September 5. Drop by the exhibit and discover a new generation of visual artists who’ve proven themselves worthy of these prestigious awards.
Then, just before the month ends, Shang opens the 11th International Silent Film Festival in Manila, which runs from August 31 to September 3. This one-of-a-kind movie viewing experience features silent films from all over the world scored live by Filipino musicians. Catch the 9 films scored by 9 different local artists at the Shang Cineplex, plus the new, emerging talents to be featured at The Silent Film Exhibition and Musika X Pelikula, both to be held at the Grand Atrium.
Shang also highlights its home and living selections with Urban Filipino Spaces: Home Exhibit, happening at the Grand Atrium from August 15 to 23. Get to see how well-known personalities Karylle Yuzon, Tin-tin and Julius Babao, Jed Madela, Xandra Ramos Padilla, Jappy Gonzales, Jie Pambid, Stephanie Zubiri, Apple David, Rajo Laurel have put their own style and have decorated different areas of the house, from the home office to the living room, using items from Bo Concept, Tempur, La-Z Boy, La Sedia, Rustan’s Department Store, and more.
