37th National Milo Marathon Lipa Results

Sabal, Agura dominate 37th National MILO Marathon Lipa eliminations leg
5,973 runners compete in the premier nationwide marathon race

A total of 5,973 runners joined the Lipa qualifiers of the premier nationwide marathon race, the 37th National MILO Marathon.

Of the 5,973 runners who competed in the race, 24 other runners had also qualified for the National Finals. The stakes have been raised for this season’s MILO Marathon King and Queen, as they will be competing alongside elite runners from across the world at the esteemed Paris Marathon in 2014.

Elite runners Gerald Sabal and Janette Agura set a swift pace for the 21-K division run at the 37th National MILO Marathon Sunday in Lipa City.

Running excellence certainly runs in the Sabal bloodline as Gerald is a brother to award-winning marathon runners Elmer and Cresenciano Sabal. “I have been running with my brothers for as far as I can remember. They encourage me to push my limits and become the best that I can be. They are my greatest teachers and my strongest rivals,” said Sabal. Gerald and Elmer placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in last year’s 42K National MILO Marathon Manila eliminations race, while elder brother Cresenciano is a three-time MILO Marathon King.
