Traffic Rerouting in Quezon City for November 1, 2010

Quezon City announces All Saints’ Day traffic rerouting

MANILA, Philippines – Quezon City police will be implementing a traffic rerouting scheme in seven major cemeteries in the city on November 1, All Saints’ Day.

Motorists are advised of the following traffic rerouting scheme effective 4 a.m. on November 1:

At the Manila North Cemetery:

-Trucks and buses coming from the Balintawak area towards Manila, thru A. Bonifacio, shall turn left to Sgt. Rivera St., turn right to D. Tuazon St., and then again turn right to Calamba St., going to Manila area.

-Trucks and buses going from Manila to Balintawak shall take Maria Clara St., turn left on Banawe Street, left on Sgt. Rivera Street, then right on A. Bonifacio Road.

-Private vehicles, PUJ’s and taxi cabs coming from Balintawak area towards Manila shall enter Mayon Street, (which will be one way from Del Monte Avenue to Sct. Alcantara Street), turn right on Retiro Street, left on Dr. Alejos Street, right on Don Manuel Agregado Street towards Blumentritt.

-Private vehicles, PUJs and taxis going from Manila to Balintawak shall go straight down Retiro Street, (which is one-way from Blumentritt Extension to Mariveles Street), take CDC (formerly Tacio) St., left on Angelo St., then right to Sgt. Alcaraz, left on Speaker Perez and on left Del Monte Avenue on to A. Bonifacio Road and Balintawak.

-Private vehicles, PUJs and taxis, coming from San Francisco Del Monte on Del Monte Avenue, shall turn left on Mayon Street, and follow the route from Balintawak.

-Motorists will be allowed to park along the streets of Ipo, Gen. Tinio, Bulusan, Abao, and Labo while parking is prohibited along the stretch of A. Bonifacio Avenue from C-3 to Calavite Street.

No traffic re-routing will be implemented near the vicinity of the Baesa Cemetery, but only right side parking will be allowed along TS Cruz Street. The entire stretch of Quirino Highway will be a tow-away zone.

In Novaliches Cemetery, vehicles will not be allowed to enter the cemetery. Instead, vehicles coming from Gen. Luis will turn right at Dona Isaura and will use Sarmiento St., as exit to Quirino Highway. Vehicles going to North Caloocan exiting Susana Road, left turn at Millionaires Village leading to Green Fields 3, then turn left to Susana Road, all the way to BF/Bagumbong, Caloocan City.

Only one side of the Millionaires Subdivision will be designated as a parking area. The stretch of Gen. Luis Street from Susano Road to Dona Isaura Street will be No Parking and Tow Away Zones.

At the Parokya Ng Pagkabuhayan Cemetery in Bagbag, vehicles are prohibited to enter the cemetery. Parking will be allowed at the left side portion of King Alexis Street coming from Kingspoint Street. The stretch of Quirino Highway and Kingspoint Street will be No Parking and Tow Away Zones.

At the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park, vehicles will be allowed to enter the cemetery using Leyland Drive as entry point and will exit on Baesa Gate. Entrance is one way for all vehicles coming from Reparo Service Road to Bagong Barrio Gate on NDR service road NLEX entrance.

Beginning 2 p.m. on November 1, Maxima Drive will be closed to traffic and will serve as exit to Quirino Highway. Leyland Drive will serve as entry point for incoming vehicles.

At the Holy Cross Memorial Park, the entry point of all vehicles will be at back of Green Heights Subdivision and will exit at P. dela Cruz Street all the way to Quirino Highway. Once inside the cemetery, observance of one side parking is implemented by the Holy Cross Management.

At the Himlayang Pilipino, the entry point of all vehicles will be at Himlayan Avenue, exiting at the back using Philand Drive Subdivision. Another exit point to use is the St. Anthony School Road leading to NAPOCOR Village.

A total of 1,137 policemen will be deployed around the city to secure cemeteries.
