 50 runners qualify for the National Finals

Philippine Air Force Airman Anthony Nerza and Philippine Army Private Janice Tawagin showcased their running prowess as they dominated in the 21K events at the Lucena leg of the 38th National MILO Marathon Qualifying Race on Sunday. About 10,000 runners joined the race, with 50 runners qualifying for the National Finals.

Nerza and Tawagin each earned a cash prize of P10,000, a trophy, and a coveted slot in the National Finals slated on December 7. Both will join the country’s finest elite runners in their quest to clinch the MILO Marathon King and Queen crowns. As an added incentive, MILO will send this year’s King and Queen to Japan on an all-expense paid trip to the 2015 Tokyo Marathon.

WFP And USAID hold Second National Forum on Disaster Preparedness and Response

Disaster Preparedness and Response (DPR) took centre stage this week as 150 delegates from national government, provincial, city, and municipal local government units (LGUs), academic institutions, and non-government organizations (NGOs) assembled for a national forum organized by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the United States Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA). This year’s national forum – the second of its kind – focused on the achievements and challenges of DPR practitioners and setting directions for the next year.

Cinemalaya's 10th Year Anniversary Featured Films at AyalaI Malls Cinemas

Ayala Malls Cinemas continues to celebrate with the nation as Cinemalaya’s 10th Anniversary recently opened (August 2) at their latest digital screen at Fairview Terraces.

The latest satellite venue of the festival which is Ayala’s Fairview Terraces in Quezon City hosted an opening night featuring “Separados,” a romantic comedy drama by GB Sampedro starring Alfred Vargas, Anjo Yllana, Jason Abalos,  Victor Neri, Ricky Davao and Erik Santos.  Inspired by true events, “Separados” is about  the bittersweet saga of six men who separated from their wives.

CinemaWorld, an international movie channel, continues to bring the best movies from around the world to cable television. This month, CinemaWorld offers fresh, new titles, premiering on the channel just months after their official theatrical releases this year.

Gold is an Irish offbeat comedy about Ray, played by David Wilmot (from The Tudors and King Arthur), an estranged father who returns to his hometown after a 10-year absence in order to reconnect with his teenage daughter Abbie, played by Maisie Williams (from Game of Thrones), and ex-wife at the request of his ailing father.  However, he unwittingly finds himself responsible for almost destroying all their lives.  Screened at the Seattle International Film Festival 2014, Gold premieres on CinemaWorld on August 3, at 9:00 PM.

For 2 Saturdays in July, Estero de Pandacan and La Mesa Watershed and Ecopark became the venue for the firm's Good Works Volunteers' effort with over 500 of its employee volunteers and senior executives - a good number of which work during the night shifts - taking part in a variety of clean-up and tree-planting activities.

She will be joining the star-studded panel of esteemed mentors backstage: choreographer and G-Force director, Georcelle Dapat-Sy and divine diva Zsa Zsa Padilla. As mentor, Angel will be steering i-Shine participants through the acting workshops.

For 25 years, Promil Pre-School has been well known for talent development, raising awareness for parental participation, proper guidance and good nutrition as factors that play major roles in bringing preschoolers to their full potential. The Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp is one of Promil Pre-school’s advocacies, in which the talents of Filipino children nationwide are engaged.
