World Vision receives 20th Manuel Luis Quezon Gawad Parangal Award

The local government of Quezon City awards World Vision for its service to children in the 20th Manuel Luis Quezon Gawad Parangal ceremony held at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City. The award is bestowed to outstanding Quezon City-based citizens and organizations that have made significant contributions to the betterment of the city and the nation as a whole.

Leading the ceremony were Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto. Aside from World Vision, the following individuals and organizations were also recognized during the event:

Former Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Eduardo Año; Dr. J Prospero De Vera, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); Ms. Ana Rosa Almario, Vice President of the Adarna House and Raya School Director; Ms. Ditta Sandico-Ong, Proud Filipino designer, wrap artist, and advocate of sustainable fashion; Mr. Antonio Joselito Lambino II, Managing Director for Strategic Communication of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Ms. Sonia Malasarte-Roco, Co-founder of “Our School,” a center for childhood education at the Ateneo Psychology Department; Ms. Therese Clarence "Reese"Fernandez-Ruiz, President and Founding Partner of Rags2Riches; Mr. Alfredo Macam-Yao, Founder of Zest-O, Macay Holdings, Inc. and Philippine Business Bank (PSE: PBB); Mr. Danny Buenafe, News Bureau Chief of ABS-CBN Europe and ABS-CBN Middle East; and Estrel’s Caramel Cake

“Para po sa ating minamahal na lungsod, ang Lungsod Quezon, maraming-maraming salamat po sa pag-gawad sa amin sa World Vision ng 2022 Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal. World Vision is truly honored and grateful by this recognition especially as we celebrate our 65th year of bringing hope, joy and justice to all Filipino children," said World Vision National Director Rommel Fuerte, who received the award on behalf of the organization.

"Congratulations Quezon City especially to our Honorable Mayor Joy Belmonte, for your 83rd Founding Anniversary. Kami pong lahat sa World Vision ay nakiki- isa sa paggunita ng mahalagang okasyon na ito, na may temang 'Sama-Samang Pagbangon sa Bagong Panahon.'"

Gawad Parangal is held annually during October as part of the celebration of the founding anniversary of Quezon City. Now on its 20th year, the awards ceremony continues to honor individuals and organizations for their excellent performance in government service, education, humanitarian and community service, arts and culture, science and technology, social work and media arts.
