Successful daughters' upbringing: WomenBizPH talks father-daughter relationship

Studies have shown that fathers’ active parental involvement boosts their children’s academic, emotional and social stability.

This year, Women’s Business Council of the Philippines’ (WBCP), an advocacy group for women economic development, aims to inspire Filipino families and reiterate the importance of a father’s guidance in raising his children through a symposium it will hold entitled FATHERS FOR DAUGHTERS: Building Next-Gen Business Mindsets.

The event will be this year’s episode of the talk series dubbed as Women Mentoring Women (W2W) Talks, which has been organized by WBCP as part of its advocacy to help women in business and economic development.

Renowned and successful women in the country will come together as guest speakers, namely: Rachel Kong, Tricia Gosingtian, and sisters Sheila and Donna Lina, who will be joined by their fathers Francis Kong, Josiah Go and Bert Lina, respectively.  They will share personal experiences on how their fathers’ influences and participation in their lives have engendered entrepreneurial skills and business mindsets for them.

The first part of the program will discuss the role of the father as a coach, which will be taken up by Ms. Rachel Kong, the CEO of Success Options Inc., a publishing, training, and development provider.  She will be joined by her father, Mr. Francis Kong, who is one of the most respected business speakers in the country, and is known in the field of manufacturing and retail.

This will be followed by a session on the role of the father as a manager of his daughter’s career.  The subject will be tackled by an award-winning blogger and photographer, Ms. Tricia Gosingtian, together with her father, Mr. Josiah Go, Chairman of 12 reputable corporations, author of 15 bestselling marketing and sales books, and the most awarded business educator in the Philippines.

Finally, sisters Sheila and Donna Lina, both successful in e-commerce, film production, business research, and marketing, together with their father, Mr. Bert Lina, a successful entrepreneur who has established his own private conglomerate, the Lina Group of Companies, will talk about the role of a father as a mentor.

The symposium will be held on March 22, from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at the Ballroom 1, Fairmont Makati, 1 Raffles Drive, Makati City.
