Twitter Unveils the Latest Score on @NBA Conversation as it Opens New Season

Nearly 76 million #NBA-related Tweets generated since the NBA Finals ended in June

Tip-off is upon us for the new @NBA season and Twitter will once again be home to top highlights, original player content and real-time reactions to #WhatsHappening across the league. Fans have waited several months for basketball to return, but that didn’t stop the conversation on Twitter. There have been nearly 76 million #NBA-related Tweets since the NBA Finals ended in June. 

From All Star veterans switching homes to high-profile rookies landing in big cities, the NBA offseason storylines were told on Twitter:


The opening games of the season began on a high note but saw an abrupt turn of events as Boston Celtics’ (@celtics) Gordon Hayward’s (@gordonhayward) had an unfortunate accident. Filipino personalities and NBA fans jumped in the conversation and posted #NBA-related Tweets in anticipation for the new season as well as Tweets that show their support for the injured athlete:

This past summer, the Golden State Warriors (@warriors) defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers (@cavs) to capture their second title in the last three years.

The @warriors enter the 2017-18 season as the second most-followed @NBA team on Twitter. Here’s a snapshot of the most followed teams in league.

2. President Donald Trump uninvites @StephenCurry30 to the White House after Curry says he is undecided about attending
3. Paul George (@Yg_Trece) is traded to the @okcthunder
4. @gordonhayward signs with the @celtics
