Nike celebrates Villanova University's National Championship Win

Nike congratulates the Villanova University men’s basketball team, led by coach Jay Wright, on its second national championship — and first since 1985. Villanova defeated the University of North Carolina 77-74 to finish the season 35-5, while becoming the 16th NIKE, Inc.-sponsored NCAA Division 1 men's basketball champion in the last 20 years.

This year, Nike marks the monumental occasion with an official championship T-shirt and hat, worn on-court by the players as they celebrated the win. Both apparel items are available at nike.com.

The Villanova University men's basketball team captured their first men's national title since 1985 and its second overall. Under the watch of Coach Jay Wright, they finished a historic season with a 35-5 record while becoming the 16th NIKE Inc. sponsored Division 1 men's basketball champion in the last 20 years.
