USANA Brand Ambassador Leads United States’ Victory at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup

In what many are considering the greatest individual performance in a World Cup final ever, USANA Health Sciences Brand Ambassador Carli Lloyd led the U.S. to a 5-2 victory over reigning world champs Japan, to take home the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup title Sunday night. The 32-year-old midfielder scored three of the U.S. team’s five goals in an astounding 16 minutes, including the first hat-trick in WWC final history, from center field.

“We are proud to have Carli as a representative of Team USANA and our world-class products, ” said Dan Macuga, USANA chief communications officer. “We congratulate her and the rest of Team USA on their incredible World Cup finish.”

Breaking multiple World Cup records, the U.S. Women’s National Team now holds three World Cup titles — more than any other country — having previously won in 1991 and 1999. According to Nielsen, the sporting event was the most-watched soccer match in U.S. television history — for women or men — drawing in 25.4 million viewers.

"Eating healthy definitely helps in all aspects when it comes to training and performing,” shares Lloyd in an earlier interview. “But USANA helps give me that extra boost I need to push myself to the limit and stay ahead of my competition. I am thrilled to be working with a company that values my health the way I do."

Aside from the win, Lloyd is also awarded the Adidas Golden Ball — given to the best player in the World Cup — and the Adidas Silver Boot, for her six tournament goals and one assist, named as the first American ever to score in four straight WWC games, and now holds a gold (2015), silver (2011) and bronze (2007) WWC medal.
