P20 to send P1,000 within Philippines

To reward the generosity of Filipinos in distributing their income for the benefit of the wider family, The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payment services, today announced “Sweldo Padala Sale” - a payday promotion of  a fee of 20 pesos for domestic money transfers of between 501 to 1,000 pesos.

Consumers in the Philippines will be charged a fee1 of 20 pesos for sending a money transfer domestically worth between 501 to 1,000 pesos to any of over 8,500 Western Union®Agent locations in 77 provinces, 138 cities and 675 municipalities, under the Western Union Money Transfer Sale.

The nationwide offer by Western Union is available from now to May 6, 2013.

“Filipinos are unique in a way that they always share their income with loved ones back home – immaterial whether they work in the country or overseas. The special price offer is to reward their generosity, so they may maximize their income and expenditure on pay day,” said Patricia Riingen, senior vice president, East and South Asia, Western Union.

“A price slash on pay-days is only a small token of appreciation from Western Union when compared to the overwhelming dedication and generosity of Filipinos whose priority is always the well-being of their families and loved ones, wherever they may be,” added Riingen.
