#HereforYou: Pacific Cross Philippines meets the challenges of COVID-19 with heartfelt service

Pacific Cross Philippines (PCPH) proves their commitment to serving clients by providing reliable assistance amidst the COVID-19 crisis. PCPH has been providing coverage for COVID-19 since March 2020, superseding their standard exclusion on pandemics for their medical plans.

Patients can incur large expenses for getting hospitalized when availability of a treatment for a disease is uncertain. Epidemics and pandemics are normally excluded from medical insurance coverage for this reason.

According to the Department of Health, over 500,000 cases of COVID-19 infections have been recorded in the Philippines. Getting hospitalized for the disease can amount to millions of pesos—money most Filipinos do not have. PCPH understands having medical insurance to cover for such a hefty cost is invaluable.

“We have always thought of Pacific Cross as an instrument in aiding our clients especially in these trying times. We want to be a reliable and trusted ally for our customers. We will continue to be here for our clients by providing support to them when and where we can,” said Pacific Cross President and CEO Mr. Daniel Daly on why they decided to provide coverage for COVID-19.

DOT lauds Bohol's celebration of the annual Ubi Festival

Photo from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist - Bohol

The Department of Tourism (DOT) lauds the Provincial Government of Bohol's efforts in setting up this year's annual Ubi Festival under the new normal.

Running until February 24, the festival, which has been celebrated since year 2000, is proof of the Boholanos’ love for Ubi or purple yam. The root crop was revered as a “savior crop” as its discovery led to the alleviation of hunger in the province during pre-Hispanic times. Now, it has become a staple food for Boholanos because of its taste, long shelf-life, and the many food varieties that can be made from it.

As the largest producer of ubi in the country, Bohol is home to many ubi farmers who turn to the root crop for their livelihood. With this year's theme, “Pagpananum ug Ubi Napuslan, Kagutom Na Dala Sa Covid19 Nabatukan,” the festival aims to celebrate the root crop that has become an agro-historical-geographical-religious symbol for the province and highlight the impact and contributions of ubi farmers.

Continuing with its mission of informing the public, especially the youth, about HIV awareness during a pandemic, Durex recently resumed its University Townhalls, now dubbed University Digi-Townhall, as part of their ongoing Protection & Preparedness Education (PPE) Campaign. Shifting the event to an online platform, what used to be held annually in various college campuses is now done virtually, still with subject matter experts as key resource persons and the Boys Night Out crew—Slick Rick, TonyToni, and Sam YG—as hosts.

“By moving our townhalls online, we want to bring forth the strong message that Durex continues to reach out to the youth who are the most vulnerable,” says Durex Philippines. “It’s critical that we keep them informed of the dangers of contracting HIV, of the importance of using protection, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.”

Welcome the Chinese New Year with the lucky colors of the vivo Y31

Feng Shui experts have named black, blue, and gray to be the lucky colors of the Year of the Metal Ox. Together with gold and silver, these colors are foreseen to bring luck to those wearing them, or in vivo Y31’s case, for those holding and using them.

One can literally hold their luck at the palm of their hands as vivo Y31 is launched, just in time for the Chinese New Year, and in the auspicious colors of Racing Black and Ocean Blue. The New Year is already bound to be pretty rewarding with this powerful device on hand that will not only attract fortune, but also send your productivity to new heights.

The black and the blue shades are especially lucky in lunar year 2021 for those born in the years of the rat (1972, 1984, 1996, 2008), monkey (1980, 1992, 2004, 2016), pig (1983, 1995, 2007, 2019) and ox (1985, 1997, 2009, 2021). Generally, according to astrologers, it is best to attract luck in the Year of the Metal Ox by wearing the prosperous colors of blue, black and gray, regardless of which zodiac you’re born to.

Approval of Saliva Testing for COVID-19, a welcome development to stimulate and boost air travel demand

AirAsia welcomes the recent approval of saliva testing for COVID-19, a positive development towards stimulating air travel demand.

Last 25 January 2021, the Department of Health (DOH) approved the RT-PCR Saliva testing for COVID-19 after the successful pilot testing conducted by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) yielded 98.11% accuracy.

RT-PCR Saliva testing generates faster results within three to four hours, after samples have been collected. It is also cheaper at PhP 1,500-2,000 compared to the RT-PCR swab test which ranges from Php 3,500-5,000.

Prior to this, only PRC laboratories are allowed to conduct the saliva test pending the parallel validation test being conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

SniZtop: Fast-acting relief for runny nose, itchy eyes

They say, when the going gets tough – rock on! And in these trying times, that includes making sure you stay in the flow and don’t let a few life hiccups or even minor symptoms get in the way of your job and other essential day-to-day activities.

Living through a pandemic, it may be quite the norm for people to feel uneasy and even over cautious about catching not just COVID-19 but any kind of sickness. Although keeping of our natural immune system in great shape is a top health priority, still we would rather not contract or show any flu-like symptoms if they can be avoided.
